This was my first German experience. After I got the part, I asked the director: What goes on in the director’s head when they pick an actor? Barbara Albert answered: When you came in through the door I realized you were the character I was looking for. I just prayed that you had some talent, too. I understood then that in film looks come first. Actors are often cast based on what fits their appearance. That’s a shame, because some actors do better composition on characters that are not close to their physical type. Nordrand was one of Austria’s most important films of 1999.
